How It All Started…

About Me: From Chiropractor to (Reluctant) Runner

Hi, I’m [Your Name], and welcome to Tanemp!

I’m a chiropractor, a dad, a husband, and someone who never thought I’d call myself a runner.

Back in high school, I struggled to run across the Williamsburg Bridge without burning out. I hated every minute of it. Running felt like punishment, not something you’d ever enjoy.

Fast-forward to today, and I’ve found the joy in running—and now I help others do the same.

My Story

I graduated from chiropractic school in 2012 and have spent the last decade working with people of all types in New York City, including a lot of runners—from first-timers to marathoners.

Over time, I started researching how running affects the body. I began studying things like:

  • How proper running form prevents injury
  • Why new runners often burn out or get hurt too soon
  • How tools like foam rolling, stretching, and strength training can support better running

The more I learned, the more I started running myself. Not just to try it, but to finally enjoy it.

Today, I’m training for my first half marathon, and I’ve learned that running doesn’t have to be painful or punishing. You just need the right plan, patience, and support.

Why I Started This Blog

Tanemp is here for beginners—the people who are starting from scratch, coming back from injury, or just want to run without hating it.

Here, you’ll find:

  • Beginner-friendly tips that take the pressure off
  • Safe, chiropractor-informed training advice
  • Tools to help you recover, stay consistent, and enjoy your runs

If you’re unsure where to begin, I recommend starting with the run-walk method or this how to start running guide. If breathing is tough, this breathing technique post can help right away.

A Quick Note

While I am a licensed chiropractor, everything I share here is from my personal journey and experience as a fellow runner, not as your healthcare provider. The tips and guides on this site are for general education and encouragement.

If you’re experiencing pain, injury, or have medical concerns, please speak with your doctor or healthcare professional before starting any running or exercise routine.

Thanks for being here.
Let’s take the next step together—one run-walk interval at a time. 🏃‍♂️
